My Process
Brief:
This assignment requires creating a clean, scalable vector graphic in Adobe Illustrator using the Pen Tool and economy of nodes. Your design must include fillable objects, clear labels, and recognizable map components while maintaining an obvious overall concept. The final piece should feature interesting, well-crafted graphics that showcase a polished Illustrator vector aesthetic. The result should be infinitely scalable and visually organized.
Sketch the Map
Step 1, involved brainstorming and creating rough sketches to explore the overall layout and concept for the Anna Maria, Florida map. These hand drawn ideas helped establish the island’s shape, key landmarks, and decorative elements before moving into the digital vector stage.
Vector Icons
Step 2 focused on sketching potential icons to accompany the map, exploring different objects and symbols that represent the area’s character. These rough drawings helped refine ideas for visual elements such as shells, fish, flowers, and landmarks—that will later be turned into clean vector graphics.
